The Fall Issue is Live!
Letter from the Editor:
Hello friends! Here we are again, starting another season of falling leaves, dropping temps, clearing the cobwebs out of the barn, putting those stall fans away and worming our horses! The absolute best sound in the world is the clip-clopping of hooves, but only slightly less best are those hooves crunching through the leaves on a Fall trail ride! The temps are perfect and there are no pesky bugs. It really can’t be beat! Convince me I’m wrong.....
There are so many wonderful things that have happened over the Summer and some of them, I’m happy to get to share with you in this issue! I experienced some new things for the first time, met some amazing people, put myself out on a limb and learned to give myself some grace! I never thought I’d ever do any of those things, but I’m so glad that I did! The best part about it is, there’s more to come in the next few months, so I sure hope that you continue to follow along with us as we share your stories and have some new adventures together.
One thing that I have learned, especially this year as I hit a milestone birthday, is that in order to live life, sometimes you have to do it scared. I think a lot of us wish we could be more adventurous and try new things but when we look at other people doing the thing we wish to try and doing it so well, we feel that we’ll never be able to live up to them or that we’ll embarrass ourselves even trying, so we just don’t. I’m here to tell you that even those people who look like they have it all together are absolutely terrified, but they still saddle up for the adventure anyway.
Whether it’s trying out a new discipline (like me, driving a horse for the first time!), putting yourself out there to meet new people (hello social anxiety!) or even something that isn’t vaguely related to horses at all, like backpacking in the mountains (seriously...I need tips before the Spring. Help a girl out...), living life intentionally means getting out of your comfort zone. I challenge you to do something that does that this season!
Your life is literally a grand story and it would be super boring without the plot twists and turns, so create some for yourself and live life large! You only get one opportunity to make it the best story possible!
On that note, I want to finish with this great little quote that I saw from a page on social media called “The Power of Positivity.”
“What if everything that went wrong, was actually going right?
What if that rejection was re-direction?
What if your struggles are shaping you for something bigger?
What if the setback is just part of the set up?
Maybe life isn’t happening to you, it’s happening for you.
Think about that.”
Those are some powerful words when you really apply them to life. When things don’t seem like they’re going right, just re-direct your thoughts and ask yourself what that set back is setting you up for and imagine how wonderful that adventure will be!
See you between the pages!
